COMBILASER presented at the 5th International Symposium on Laser-Ultrasonics and Advanced Sensing

From 4 to 8 July 2016, the Johannes Kepler University Linz showed as the scientific hotspot for innovative technologies "laser ultrasound and photoacoustic". In the 5th International Symposium on Laser-Ultrasonics and Advanced Sensing - short LU2016 - about 125 scientists and researchers from around the world met to exchange ideas about the latest scientific developments in these technologies and in the field of non-destructive testing and characterization of materials in industrial production. This international special event was organized by the upper Austrian research company RECENDT (Research Center for Non-Destructive Testing). With high-profile speakers, around 90 lectures, 20 scientific posters and accompanying social activities, the event offered a wide, information-packed program.

To introduce industrial enterprises the capabilities and benefits of this innovative technology, a so-called 'Industry Day' was organized. In the event, entitled "laser ultrasonic: Non-Destructive Testing - from grain structures to aircraft parts" ten international speakers reported, how this high-resolution, non-contact test methods may be used in the metal, plastic and composite industry.

In the course of this conference also an accompanying exhibition of Laser ultrasound equipment manufacturers took place. At the booth of RECENDT, among other technical information, current research projects such as COMBILASER were presented.

COMBILASER presented at the World Conference on Non-Destructive Testing

Posted on 29.8.2016

Bernhard Reitinger presented the poster “A New Balanced TWM Laser Ultrasound Detector, the Principle and its Applications in NDT” at the 19th World Conference on Non-Destructive Testing (WCNDT, 13 - 17 June 2016 in Munich / Germany, 2.500 participants). This detector principle is used and further developed in the COMBILASER project for the weld characterization by means of Laser ultrasound.

Combilaser was presented at IEEE IS’16

Posted on 24.10.2016

Adrian Solis, from the University of Sheffield, attended the IEEE international conference on Intelligent Systems, in Sofia, Bulgaria. The presented work was carried out jointly for the COMBILASER project and is detailed in [1]. The research work included a data-driven modelling framework for manufacturing processes. The emphasis of the presented framework was on imbalanced data, a common issue in real manufacturing case studies.
