COMBILASER presented at the METROMEET conference

Posted on 17.3.2016

COMBILASER Project was present in the 12th International Conference on Industrial Dimensional Metrology in Bilbao after receiving an invitation to participate in the special section devoted to laser and 3D manufacturing. During this presentation Aitor

García de la Yedra presented the project approach specially focused on monitoring and NDT technologies. Attendee’s number was around 90 including many experts from the optical metrology industry. Bellow a picture taken during COMBILASER presentation.

COMBILASER presented on the Photonics Public Private Partnership Annual Meeting 2016

Posted on 16.3.2016

The EU Project Combination of non-contact, high speed monitoring and non-destructive techniques applicable to Laser Based Manufacturing through a self-learning system – COMBILASER was kindly invited to provide a presentation at the Photonics Public Private Partnership Annual Meeting 2016 in Brussels. The European Technology Platform Photonics21 represents the photonics community of industry and research organizations.

COMBILASER was presented by Dr. Stefan Kaierle, Head of Materials and Processes Department of the Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V.. The purpose of the presentation was to give a draft insight of the project.

Dr. Stefan Kaierle presented a general overview of project and focused on the main objective to minimize defects appearance in laser based manufacturing fulfilling the zero-failure manufacturing approach. To reach this approach different kind of monitoring techniques like laser ultrasonics, temperature profile monitoring, weld pool and spectral monitoring are used. The acquired data will be synchronized and feed to self-learning system. The new technology will be finally integrated and industrial validated in three different user cases.

The expected outcome of the project are productivity increase, reduction of scrap parts and wastes and zero failure parts delivered to the customers.

Laser Zentrum Hannover hosted the third consortium meeting

Posted on 15.3.2016
On 7th and 8st March 2016 Laser Zentrum Hannover (LZH) hosted the third consortium meeting of the European COMBILASER consortium.

The 12-member COMBILASER research consortium has just ended its first year of the COMBILASER project. The 3-year project that aims to bring beyond state-of-the art solutions in laser welding and laser cladding to the European industry is now entering from its first definition and concept design phase into its industrial-case adaptation phase. In this phase of the project is very important joint work, collaboration and connecting between end users and development centers.

The purpose of the consortium meeting in Hannover was to carefully assess the progress made in the first year in activities covering the design of solutions that will later be implemented at COMBILASER’s industrial partners’ premises.

LZH presented Combilaser at the Schweisstec 2015 in Stuttgart

Posted on 17.12.2015

From November 3rd to 6th, 2015, the Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. (LZH) presented the project COMBILASER at the Schweisstec in Stuttgart. At the stand of the cooperation partner MERKLE Schweißanlagen-Technik GmbH the LZH welcomed many visitors. The interesting conversations during the exhibition showed that the process control during welding is one of the major topics at the moment. Therefore, the self-learning system was seen as a very interesting approach.
